Planeta源於西西里島西部的Menfi產區,該地的湖畔栽種著多樣的原生葡萄品種。在西西里島紮根了數百年,經歷了17代的傳承後,這舵交到了莊主迪亞哥(Diego Planeta)的手上。在他的帶領下,家族的製酒事業逐漸成形,從一間小形的家族酒莊,變成稍具規模的合作社,最終,迪亞哥在1985年正式成立了Planeta。

Enticing scents of wild berry, blue flower, exotic spice and Mediterranean scrub shape the nose. Elegantly structured, the polished palate delivers blackberry, black cherry, licorice and crushed mint alongside a backbone of smooth, fine-grained tannins.

Plenty of iodine and volcanic ash on the nose with preserved lemon and dried cranberries. It’s both juicy and mineral on the palate with a medium body and silky tannins. Distinct ash and olive stones at the finish. Drink or hold.
The 2017 Nero d'Avola Santa Cecilia explodes from the glass with masses of crushed stone, blackberries, cherries, wild herbs and hints of brown sugar. This is silky in texture with depths of sapid dark fruits complemented by sweet spice and pretty violet florals that form toward the close. The power of the warm southern coast comes through as the 2017 traverses richness with a beautiful acid-driven lift. It tapers off long to mineral-tinged wild berries framed by subtle tannins. Drink the 2017 over the near term while the 2016 spends a little time fleshing out in your cellar.
The 2016 Noto Santa Cecilia takes its icon Sicilian wine status to heart and delivers a knockout performance that is both powerful and elegant, Sicilian and international. A wine like this needs revisiting every once in a while and you can taste the more focused and streamlined style in a recent vintage like this compared to one that may have been released ten or more years ago. The importance of a wine like this is that it creates a blueprint or a timeline for Sicilian winemaking in general. You can trace the stylistic changes through the years. In this case, dark fruit is followed by scorched earth, black olive and wild Sicilian fennel. Those authentic Nero d'Avola aromas emerge with momentum and determination.
